Looking for the perfect living room furnishings?! If you are re-doing your entire space or looking for the perfect piece to give it a little extra special touch… the interior designers at DKOR prepared a warm mid-century living room idea for you!
First off this year’s trends have been all about bringing color into the home and into the larger pieces of furniture. Check out our article from our last year’s trip to France to see the latest trends at MO18; you’ll see what we’re talking about! For this reason, we suggest you consider a colorful sofa like the amazing Margot by Gus Modern.
The deep blue velvet with the gold touch on the feet is a rich combination. The fabric makes the sofa cozy in any room; and velvet is the texture at the moment, so in! Now, don’t be afraid to add another tone to the room… We see this 2-seater sofa contrasting nicely in front of a dark camel wall, as proposed by the design team!
A living room interior design would not be complete without a rug and a coffee table. We chose an oval table to bring a softer shape, opposing the square and tight shape of the sofa. Furthermore, take a look at how the wood tone hints back to the deep camel tone in the wall. Hence, making the entire composition come together.
We love the rug from famous European rug brand Nanimarquina! Its bold pattern makes it look iconic. It is almost like having the well known black and white stripe but in your own creative way. So fun!
Living Room Lighting Selections
Do not forget that in all living spaces, the right lighting is key. Consider general lighting but also mood lighting to balance it out. It is important to make the room feel inviting and cozy; accent light fixtures are a great way to achieve this. Our interior designers selected for you a sculptural floor lamp and fun wall sconces.
These pieces will add interest and so much character in your living space! You have to think of them almost as art; unique items that showcase you and your family’s taste.
Living Room Accessories
Lastly (but not to be forgotten as well!) come the finishing pieces: accessories!. Our DKORistas chose pieces that bring texture, a mix of materials and a play of colors as well. Check out the black and white glazed ceramic stool, playing off of the black and white rug as well as the artwork.
The glazed ceramic stool contrasts also in materiality with glass and metal vases. Yes, do not forget a little greenery; plants add life! Also, notice how the gold metal vase is a nice touch picking up the golden feet of the sofa.
We hope this will give you a little inspiration for your own living room. Pick a few of these pieces to complete your space… But of course, feel free to go with the full mid-century living room idea our designers are suggesting. Hey, it’s already put together, so might as well take advantage of it, right?! Happy Shopping!
