Contemporary Oceanfront Retreat – Design Concept

Inspiration Behind a Contemporary Oceanfront Retreat
Our design concept was influenced by the simplistic approach of the famous artist Piet Mondrian

The ocean lines embody the beauty of simplicity, how the basic and clean elements can be used to create functional and aesthetic interior spaces.

As you’ve experienced with all of our residential projects, we begin with a design concept. The larger the interior design project, the more we need a sound concept to help us to maintain cohesiveness and purpose in every decision we make.

Months ago we were inspired by the simplistic concrete square structure that we were handed, so simple yet impactful at the same time. Influenced by the simplistic approach of the famous artist and founder of the De Stijl movement, Piet Mondrian, we developed a warm contemporary design for this Contemporary Oceanfront Retreat.

An important step during the design process: Reviewing material options on site with our clients

We’re having lots of fun collaborating on the build out of this contemporary oasis with the local super-star builders, Bomar Builders, renowned for their expertise building high-end luxury residences all around Florida.

Working together with the Bomar Builders team.

During our first meeting, it was our priority to share with them and the rest of the extended team members the inspiration behind our design. We made known in detail how the De Stijl movement influences our design work. When collaborating on a new construction home it’s so important for us that builders have a general understanding of the design inspiration. This helps them to realize the purpose of every interior detail we are proposing and definitely helps the team to work better together.

In the meantime, let’s share a sneak peek of the impressive interior design our team is creating for this new home! The following interior rendering of the kitchen will give you a glimpse into this Contemporary Oceanfront Retreat’ industrial unique design style.

The breakfast area will be integrated into the kitchen. This open space will feature a concrete finish on flooring and accent walls combined with wood and aluminum doors.

“Our ability to truly listen and understand our clients’ needs and style is what fuels our creative process which evolves into the innovative designs that we have become known for. “Human centered design thinking always reminds us that we’re designing for real people.” – David & Tom Kelley
