Seaworthy Design for a Sunny Isles Miami Vacation Home

Last year we introduced you to a Sunny Isles Miami Vacation Home in the Jade Signature in Sunny Isles, Florida, we’re designing for a young family from Mexico. We love a good theme to our design, and there’s no better place for one that’s a bit more accessible than in a vacation home. Catch my drift? (See what I did there?!) So naturally, nautical materials, from rope to weathered wood to sleek chrome, and a palette of ocean-inspired blues and sandy neutrals keep our design on course.

Now that you’re up to speed, come take a trip with us as we navigate through three of the home’s common spaces.

First up, the foyer. Right away the console table steals the show. Talk about a statement piece! The table’s cement legs are reminiscent of the tide-smoothed pebbles you’d find washed up on the shore. A walnut wood tabletop that’s finish is more natural than polished finishes the look. Rounding out the space is a textured wallcovering that adds just the right amount of depth to the walls.

Dining Design by DKOR Interiors

Step into the dining room of this Sunny Isles Beach vacation home and you’ll discover it’s all in the details. The pendant lights, which remind us of jellyfish, are dimpled to evoke the water’s surface on a rainy day, while bookcase accessories feature a wavy porcelain finish or an abstract painting in an all-blue color scheme. The gray oak of the buffet (not pictured) and the top of the dining table hint at the look of weathered teak—a seaside home-favorite. A pair of bookcases divides the dining room from the kitchen offering enough privacy in the open-concept space.

A custom TV surround dominates the space—with style. Oak wood cabinets hide away living room must-haves (an essential when you have young kids), while also providing a space to lean seascape paintings and planters full of shoreside plants. The tone-on-tone fabric wallcovering behind the TV offers just a hint of sparkle, like the sun glinting off the ocean at sunset.
