Custom Home Interior Design: Common Areas in Our Hallandale Beach Project

Last year we introduced you to one of our custom home interior design projects in Hallandale Beach. Yes—you read that right—new construction projects take a while. This home’s design concept is “woven architecture.” It calls upon thousands of years of design history to infuse a decidedly modern home with depth, character, and life.

Today, we’re back to share with you our design intent for the home’s common areas: the foyer, living room, TV lounge, and dining room. We’re so excited to give you a sneak peek of what this 8,000-square-foot home will look like once it’s complete.

Let’s start in the foyer.

Foyer Design

Step right in and you’re immediately overtaken by the beauty and contrast of polished Carrara marble and deep walnut wood paneling. This duo—marble and wood—is a match made in designer heaven.

You’ll notice a double height entry foyer with a thoughtfully curated vignette on the right-hand side. Rich emerald green spans the color gap between deep wood and crisp white marble, infusing the space with a luxury befitting the home. The channel-tufted pouf, the duo of Articolo pendants, and the crazy-cool amoeba-shaped mirror soften up the space while adding major drama (in the best way possible).

Though the staircase tucked next to the front door won’t take center stage when guests are entering the house, it’s a clever reminder of the home’s beauty as they’re on their way out.

The pairing of the marble risers and the wood stair treads is a real-life version of the two being woven together for maximum impact. Then, they’re paired with one backlit and one glass railing.

All of this beauty leads right into the living room.

Living Room Design

A 24-foot ceiling with a beautiful lighting cove detail elevates the design in this great room! (Always part of our wish list in a custom home). Then, layered at different heights is a trio of stunning ring-shaped chandeliers, that can be appreciated from all angles of the home.

Instead of wall art, we’re featuring a polished piece of Michelangelo stone behind the sofa. The variegated stone, with stripes of blue, emerald, gold, and white, is better than any piece of modern art, because it’s Mother Nature’s unique creation.

A grouping of five pendants arranged in a staggered pattern is hanging next to the floor-to-ceiling stone. These meant to mirror the pendants in the foyer, connecting the two rooms.

A grouping of plush seating options from Fendi Casa, ranging from the Abbraccio sofa to the Metropolitan chaise, offer both style and comfort. The layered and interwoven Columbus coffee table nods to the home’s design concept.

Every pillow, every accent is chosen to weave together the room’s design elements, color palette, and materiality.

TV Lounge and Dining Room

Inhabiting that same space is the TV lounge and dining room.

The black galaxy granite backed entertainment center is the main attraction in the TV lounge. The stone sparkles, lending depth, but not taking anything away from what’s on the screen. A pair of the chicest recliners and ottomans you’ve ever seen are front-and-center for our clients’ viewing pleasure.

In a room with many different purposes, it’s important to use design elements to give each space its own personality and mark where one ends and one begins. Here, the wall behind the dining table is covered in a distinguishing woven leather finish, lending depth, and interest.

But function is also key. The long dining table and comfortable chairs offer a space that can host family dinners. There’s also a wet bar carefully created to seamlessly blend into the cabinetry and the shelves showcasing the family’s art.

To bring it full circle (and back to our woven design concept), the black framing on the windows offers a repetitive and woven look.

This is what the space will look like eventually. Right now, since this is a new-build custom home interior design project, we’re still in the building phase. Check out the progress on site!
